Ed Healy is the Land Quality Program Manager in the Engineering & Construction division of Southern Company Services. In this role, Ed provides leadership for a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers who deliver technical expertise in the areas of environmental science and engineering, environmental chemistry, geotechnical engineering, geo-environmental engineering, aquatic biology, geology and geochemistry, environmental remediation, and civil engineering/site work to all subsidiaries of Southern Company. In addition, Ed leads a fleet-wide team responsible for developing a programmatic strategy to comply with EPA’s Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) rule.

Ed joined the Power Engineering group of Southern Company in 1986 where he worked on a variety of environmental projects, primarily in water and air. He has also served on Mirant’s (formally Southern Energy) due-diligence teams to acquire power generating assets, both domestically and internationally. After spending several years in the wholesale power marketing division of Southern Company as a Market Analyst responsible for structuring bi-lateral power sales contracts, he returned to Engineering & Construction as Consulting Engineer for air pollution control and chemical process systems. In addition to managing the chemical process group, he was responsible for the design of numerous post-combustion NOx and FGD systems.

Prior to joining Southern Company, Ed served as a piping engineer at Rust Engineering working on pulp & paper, steel, chemical, and waste to energy plants. Ed also co-oped at American Cyanamid as a process engineer in their anhydrous ammonia plant.

Ed was recognized with the Distinguished Auburn Engineer Award from the Auburn University Alumni Engineering Council and has received the Pollution Control User Group’s (PCUG) Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ed received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University in 1984 and is a registered Professional Engineer.
